Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday (13/6/2024) afternoon. The meeting was held behind closed doors for almost an hour.
Prabowo admitted that he had just reported on his activities at the Jordan Summit a few days ago, which discussed Palestinian and Israeli issues.
“President, I reported the results of the summit in Jordan, which was a special summit to discuss humanitarian aid that could be immediately prepared in anticipation of the ceasefire that is expected to materialize,” Prabowo said, after having met President Jokowi at the palace. Jakarta, Thursday (13/6/2024).
“And if the ceasefire does not materialize, what steps should be taken to urge both sides to a ceasefire and to help the Palestinian people in Gaza,” he continued.
He said the summit, attended by high-ranking officials from various countries, also discussed the organization of aid-related measures.
Furthermore, Prabowo said Indonesia was ready to evacuate 1,000 patients for treatment.
“And Indonesia announced that we were ready to evacuate 1,000 patients treated in Indonesia and that once they recovered, they would be sent back to Gaza once the situation returned to normal,” he explained.
Additionally, it also discusses Khofifah Indar Parawansa's offer to house Palestinian children in Islamic boarding schools in East Java and West Java.
“I also propose that at the initiative of Ms. Akhofifah as well as the leaders of the Islamic boarding schools in West Java and East Java, they be prepared to welcome traumatized orphaned children. This is under discussion,” Prabowo said.
“At that time, Indonesia was also ready to send doctors and nurses to operate field hospitals in the Gaza region,” he continued.
