Boris Johnson publicly thanks the NHS in moving video
The Prime Minister was released from hospital and publicly thanked the NHS for saving his life.
Boris Johnson tested positive for COVOID-19 and ten days later was admitted to St Thomas' Hospital in London where he spent three nights in intensive care.
In a heartfelt video on Twitter, Boris praised the doctors and nurses who looked after him, as well as the whole of the NHS.
“I want to return my thanks to the absolutely brilliant doctors, leaders in their field, men and women,” he began.
“I want to thank the many nurses, both men and women, whose care was so amazing.”
Johnson then named the nurses who stayed with him during his difficult times, adding: “I hope they won't mind if I mention in particular two nurses who stayed at my bedside for 48 hours when things could have happen one way or the other.
He continued, “The reason my body finally started getting enough oxygen was because every second of the night they were watching and thinking and caring and performing the interventions I needed.”
It is difficult to find the words to express my debt to the NHS for saving my life.

“For every second of every hour, hundreds of thousands of NHS workers act with the same care, thought and precision as Jenny and Luis. That’s why we will beat this Conoravirus and beat it together.”
The Prime Minister graciously ended the video by saying: “Our NHS is the beating heart of this country. He's the best in this country, he's invincible, he's powered by love. So, thank you from me – from all of us. – to the NHS.”
According to reports from BBCNumber 10 released Boris's first public statement in which he said: “I can't thank them enough. I owe them my life.”
The Prime Minister is not expected to return to his regular duties anytime soon. Instead, he will spend the next few weeks resting to ensure a full recovery.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will continue to fill in for him.
