Iddat case: Sessions Court judge intends to rule on Imran-Bushra's sentencing pleas soon

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – District and Sessions Court Judge Afzal Majoka said he intends to rule on the appeals against the sentence in the Iddat case within 10 days, provided he stay alive.

The judge on Friday considered appeals seeking early hearing of petitions seeking suspension of sentence awarded to PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case.

Appearing before the court, lawyer Usman Riaz Gul, representing Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, presented a written ruling of the Islamabad High Court, pleading for an expedited hearing in light of the directions of the High Court.

The judge then noted that he would announce a decision within 10 days if circumstances permitted, but that holding the hearing the next day was not possible due to numerous pending bail applications.

The judge assured that even if the opposing party did not appear, he would continue the decision-making process.

Lawyer Riaz then requested that the hearing be fixed for the next day to ensure that the notices were included in the file.

However, the judge clarified that he was preparing the agenda for the day's proceedings, emphasizing the importance of the current session beyond the simple service of the opinions.

Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing.

After the adjournment, the district and session courts issued notices to the parties involved, postponing further proceedings to June 21.
