Jokowi approves neighbors to become KEK
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has designated the Setangga region in South Kalimantan as a special economic zone (KEK).
This is stated in Government Regulation Number 26 of 2024 regarding the Neighborhood Special Economic Zone. This rule was stipulated on (13/6/2024) by President Jokowi.
The regulation explains that the Setangga region under the name Tanah Bambang Regency, South Kalimantan, meets the criteria and requirements to be designated KEK.
“With this government regulation, the Neighborhood Special Economic Zone is created,” citing Article 1, quoted Friday (14/6/2024).
The Setangga SEZ has an area of 668.3 hectares located in Simpang Empat District, Tanah Bambang Regency, South Kalimantan. This area demarcated the boundaries of the northern and eastern parts of Setangga River, Batu Ampar Village, Simpang Empat District, Tanah Bambu Regency.
The south is South Laut and Batu Ampar Village, Simpang Empat District, Tanah Bambu Regency, and the western part is bordered by Batu Ampar Village, Simpang Empat District, Tanah Bambu Regency.
Business activities in the Setangga SEZ include production and processing, logistics and distribution, up to energy development.
The neighboring region is also ready to be developed as an SEZ which has plans for the development of special ports/terminals, power plants, as well as excellence in the export and production oriented downstream industrial development sector. import substitution.
Industrial development includes nickel smelter industry, iron industry, biodiesel industry, palm oil processing industry, wood processing industry, wood fractionation industry cooking oil and rubber industry.
Based on the existing potential and advantages, PT Dua Samudera Perkasa proposed the establishment of the Setangga KEK in accordance with the statutory provisions.
Furthermore, the National Council for Special Economic Zones will also determine the business entity that will develop and manage the Setangga Special Economic Zone within a maximum period of 30 days after the entry into force of this PP.
