PTI workers protest for release of Imran, others – Journal

BAJAUR/MOHMAND: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers on Friday staged protests demanding early release of party's founding president Imran Khan and other incarcerated leaders.

Many party activists from different areas of Bajaur attended the protest held at Raghagan Bazaar.

The participants led by local PTI MP Anwarzeb Khan marched from different locations before gathering at the main bazaar.

The protesters, who carried party flags and photos of the founding presidents, chanted slogans in support of Imran Khan and other detained leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Anwarzeb and other speakers said the protest was organized following Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur's appeal to raise voice against illegal detention of Imran and other leaders party.

They called for the early release of Imran, his wife Bushra Bibi and other imprisoned party leaders.

The participants also criticized the federal government for its plan to impose taxes in Malakand division and tribal districts, and said they would not let it happen.

Leaders of the protesters said they would show strong resistance if anti-people measures were taken.

The speakers also rejected the federal budget, saying it contained nothing for the welfare of citizens.

In Mohamnd, PTI workers led by MP Sajid Khan Mohmand staged a protest at Ghalanai on Friday demanding the release of Imran Khan.

MP Malik Mehboob Sher and Speaker Lower Mohmand Naveed Ahmed Mohmand also participated in the protest.

PTI workers gathered at the press club after marching in Ghalanai Bazaar.

Addressing the protesters, MP Sajid Khan said party workers would continue campaigning until Imran Khan was released from jail.
