Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who died in the Rudraprayag traveler's accident.
At least 12 people were killed and 14 injured, carrying 26 passengers, after the tempo traveler in which they were traveling fell into a deep gorge on Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on Saturday.
“An ex-gratia sum of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would receive Rs. 50,000,” the Prime Minister's Office said on X.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami met those injured in the Rudraprayag Tempo Traveler accident at AIIMS Rishikesh.

As per the instructions of Manikant Mishra, Commander SDRF, two teams of 14 members of SDRF from Post Ratuda and Agastyamuni immediately left for the spot with rescue equipment.
The vehicle in question, carrying 26 passengers who had come here to visit the Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila journey, went out of control and crashed into a ditch about 500 meters below the main road.
SDRF teams led by SI Bhagat Singh Kandari and SI Dharmendra Panwar reached the spot and worked hard under extremely difficult conditions and carried out a joint rescue operation with local police and people, during which 14 injured people were rescued and sent to Rudraprayag District Hospital. , by ambulance, from where seven seriously injured people were airlifted to the higher center, AIIMS Rishikesh. 12 people died on the spot, whose bodies were also taken to the main road and handed over to the district police.
A team of SDRF was present at AIIMS, Rishikesh, under the leadership of Inspector Kavindra Sajwan, who airlifted the injured from the helicopter and took them to the hospital.
