President Joko Widodo inaugurates the Trans Sumatra toll road, opening new connectivity for Riau and West Sumatra
HARIANHALUAN.COM – Pekanbaru, May 31, 2024, President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo officially opened the new toll road which is an important part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Highway Project, namely the Pekanbaru Toll Road – Padang Bangkinang – Pangkalan Section Bangkinang – XIII Koto Kampar.
This inauguration event was held at Riau Governor SF Hariyanto, as well as Acting Governor. Mayor of Kampar Muhammad Firdaus.
This toll road has a total length of 24.7 kilometers and is an extension of the Pekanbaru – Bangkinang toll road which was previously inaugurated in January 2023.

In his speech, President Joko Widodo highlighted the importance of this project as part of efforts to increase connectivity and accessibility between the regions of West Sumatra.
“Today, the Pekanbaru – Padang section of the Bangkinang – Pangkalan toll road, phase I, namely Bangkinang – Koto Kampar, was completed with a length of 24.7 km,” said President Joko Widodo.
This toll road project will not only facilitate smooth transportation from Pekanbaru to Padang and vice versa, but is also expected to encourage economic growth in Riau Province, especially in Kampar Regency.

By connecting productive areas such as agricultural, plantation and tourism areas, this toll road is expected to bring significant benefits to the community and increase the mobility of goods and people.
The construction of this toll road began after the land acquisition process in May 2019 with a total investment of IDR 4,833 billion.
The government hopes that this toll road will also facilitate access to various tourist destinations in West Sumatra, such as Muara Takus Temple and other tourist attractions, which will support the development of the regional tourism sector.

With the inauguration of this toll road, the total length of toll roads in operation in the Riau region has now reached 186.7 kilometers, including the 131-kilometer Pekanbaru – Dumai toll road, the Pekanbaru – Bangkinang of 31 kilometers and the Bangkinang – XIII toll road. The Koto, Kampar toll road is 24.7 kilometers long.
