'People' want Imran to be kept in jail for 5 years for country's progress: Imran

Federal Minister for Planning and Development and PML-N General Secretary Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday said some people believed that keeping Imran Khan in jail for five years was necessary for Pakistan's progress.

He expressed concern that Khan's release could lead to further protests and unrest, which the country cannot afford.

Fawad Chaudhry, who was once associated with the PTI, said Iqbal had exposed his government's political and economic strategy by keeping Imran in jail.

Chaudhry added that it was clear that the government itself believed that it could only rule by stick and that it had no standing among the people of Pakistan.

Iqbal responded to Chaudhry's statement on X, saying it was not the government's strategy but the voice of the people.

He added that Imran Khan had ruled the country for four years but had only soup kitchens to show for it.
