Trump challenges Biden to take cognitive test while confusing doctor's name

Donald Trump told supporters that President Joe Biden should be forced to take a cognitive test, but then confused the name of the doctor who performed the test on him in 2018.

Speaking at a Turning Point Action convention in Detroit on Saturday, Trump said: “He doesn't even know what the word 'inflation' means. I think he should take a cognitive test like I did .”

But a moment later, the former president referred to Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson, who served as White House physician from 2013 to 2018, as “Doc. Ronny Johnson.”

“Doc Ronny Johnson. Does everyone know Ronny Johnson, congressman from Texas? He was the White House physician, and he said I was the healthiest president, according to him, of the story, so I really liked it immediately,” Trump said.

Trump took a cognitive test in 2018, after which Jackson said he detected “no problems” with Trump's mental abilities, adding that he was “very sharp” and “articulate” and that he scored perfect for a gold standard dementia test.

The Trump campaign called Biden a “brain-dead zombie” on Friday after a video emerged showing him walking away from leaders at this week's G7 summit.

“From Italy to the UK to New York, millions around the world woke up to headlines about Joe Biden's twisted cognitive decline, on full display at the G7 summit,” a said Karoline Leavitt, Trump spokesperson.

The video was later found to be cropped and a wider angle of the same scene showed the president turning toward a paratrooper who had just landed.

The video, widely shared on right-wing media platforms, came after the Biden campaign recognized Trump's 78th birthday this week with a scathing statement that included 78 things Trump has done this year, including a host of condemnations for crime.

“Happy birthday, Donald. You are a crook, a failure, a fraudster and a threat to our democracy, our economy, our rights and our future,” said Biden campaign spokesman James Singer.
