Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate new campus of Nalanda University today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar today, June 19, 2024. The inauguration will take place around 10:30 p.m., followed by a speech from the rally. The ceremony will take place in the presence of several eminent personalities, including heads of mission from 17 countries.
According to a PMO statement, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Nalanda ruins at around 9:45 am. The ruins of Nalanda were declared a United Nations heritage site in 2016.

“Net zero” green campus
The campus includes two academic blocks of 40 classrooms, for a total capacity of approximately 1,900 places. It has two auditoriums with a capacity of 300 seats each. It has a student hostel with a capacity of approximately 550 students. It also has various other facilities, including an international center, an amphitheater that can accommodate up to 2,000 people, a university club and a sports complex, among others.
The Campus is a “Net Zero” Green Campus. It is self-sustaining with solar power plants, domestic and drinking water treatment plants, water recycling plant for reuse of waste water, 100 acres of water bodies and many other eco-friendly facilities. 'environment.
The university is designed as a collaboration between India and the East Asia Summit (EAS) countries. It has a deep connection to history. The original Nalanda University, established around 1,600 years ago, is considered one of the first residential universities in the world.
