Boris Johnson celebrates his 60th birthday with wooden Indian elephants given to him by his wife
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson celebrated his 60th birthday on Wednesday with a special gift from his wife, Carrie Johnson, a set of three elephant sculptures that she installed in the garden.
The sculptures are linked to a charity, The Great Elephant Migration, which raises funds through the sale of wooden elephants for projects in India aimed at fostering the coexistence of humans and animals.
She shared images of Boris's birthday celebrations on Instagram.
In one of the photos, Boris can be seen holding two of his children.
Then, in the second snap, the wooden elephants can be seen, with a caption that reads: “A very special 60th birthday gift, in support of a wonderful charity, @greatelephantmigration.”
Elephants, according to the association's website, are made from Lantana camara, one of the world's most invasive weeds.
“Using lantana to create the elephants helps clear weeds from protected areas, giving wildlife more space to move around,” the charity explains.
“Lantana’s beautiful elephants come in four sizes and fit in all kinds of locations, including gardens, business fronts, estates and schools,” the release said.
“Each elephant has been meticulously created to the highest possible standards using dried lantana camara wrapped around a steel frame and coated with Osmo oil for protection,” he adds.
