Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Jammu and Kashmir today on a two-day visit that will attract global attention, culminating in a yoga program on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, India. occasion of International Yoga Day. With Prime Minister Modi's visit amid a spate of terror attacks in the Union Territory, massive security drills were held in and around Srinagar. The Special Protection Group conducted simulated exercises on all roads leading to the SKICC.

A high alert has been declared across Srinagar district. The reception venue, taken over by the SPG two days before the Prime Minister's visit, was completely disinfected.

Marco Navy commandos deployed

In addition to the SPG, navy Marco commandos are stationed around the SKICC. Hundreds of security officers are on duty throughout the city, equipped with mobile security bunkers, sophisticated weapons and high-tech surveillance devices.

Deep search operations take place regularly at Dal Lake.

Area declared “prohibited zone for drones”

Human surveillance, electronic equipment, drone supervision, domination of a large area and hawk-eye surveillance of the VVIP route are conducted before the visit.

There is a “temporary red zone” for drone and quadcopter operations in Srinagar, according to a statement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on X, formerly Twitter.

Srinagar witnessed massive traffic jam

The entire boulevard leading to the SKICC experienced a huge traffic jam on Wednesday. Traffic police announced that restrictions would be imposed on this iconic stretch from 3 p.m. Thursday to 11 a.m. Friday.

Passes issued for children

The SKICC has restricted access to all civilian and official visitors. Only people with specific security passes are allowed inside. Children participating in the Yoga Day program also received passes.

Two foreign terrorists killed in Sopore

Counter-terrorism operations are in full swing ahead of the Prime Minister's visit. On Wednesday, two foreign terrorists were neutralized and two jawans injured during an operation in Sopore.

“The operation has just ended. We are still conducting searches in the area. Two of our men, including one of our OCAPS jawan, were injured during the operation,” IGP Kashmir Vidhi told NDTV K Birdhi.
