LAHORE, June 20: Jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's political advisor was allegedly kidnapped by unknown assailants in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, according to a media report on Thursday. Ghulam Shabbir, who is the elder brother of Pakistan. Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill was kidnapped by unknown persons two days ago while he was on his way to Islamabad, according to an FIR registered at Kahna police station, the newspaper reported Express Tribune. The FIR, registered by his son Bilal, states that Shabbir had left his residence in Lahores Khayaban-e-Amin late in the night and headed towards Islamabad. No further details were available. Khan, the 71-year-old founder of the PTI party, has been in jail since August last year after being convicted in some of the nearly 200 cases against him since his ouster in April 2022. As of May 2022 , the former cricketer turned politician launched a march towards Islamabad from Lahore to topple the coalition government of Shehbaz Sharif who took power after being ousted as prime minister following a vote of censorship.
