Yazidi genocide survivors draw inspiration from Calan's democratic ideas
A decade after the world became aware of the Yazidis due to ISIS's brutal invasion and genocidal campaign, the community finds hope and a path to true democracy in self -administration of Sinjar (engal), in Iraq, through the philosophies of Abdullah Calan. Calan is the leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and has been incarcerated in Turkey for 25 years.
