Jokowi is the son of Noto Miharjo and Sujiatmi. Jokowi is the eldest of four siblings. He has three younger sisters namely Lit Sriyantini, Ida Yati and Titik Relawati.

It is known that after graduating from university in 1985, Jokowi worked at a BUMN in Aceh for a year and a half. He then resigned and decided to return to Solo and work in a company active in the woodworking sector.

He then decides to quit his job and start his own furniture business. He and his friends formed the Solo branch of a national organization of furniture entrepreneurs called the Indonesian Furniture Contractors Association (Asmindo). The president of the organization is Jokowi.

Joko Widodo's career in the Indonesian government

Jokowi started his political career as Mayor of Surakarta (Solo) from July 28, 2005 to October 1, 2012. He then served as Governor of DKI Jakarta on October 15, 2012.

Jokowi was elected President of the Republic of Indonesia in the 2014 presidential election (Pilpres). He was elected with his partner Jusuf Kalla.

Jokowi returned to the same position as President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019 to 2024. In the second period, he ran alongside KH Ma'ruf Amin.

During his first term, Jokowi had a priority infrastructure development agenda. This development is taking place uniformly in the outermost regions of Indonesia. This is done to catch up with Indonesia in this sector compared to other countries.

Several other programs were also present during Jokowi's first period of leadership, namely the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS), and the Family Hope Program (PKH).

Additionally, since the start of his term, Jokowi has also attempted land reform, one of which is issuing land title certificates. This was done to reduce land conflicts due to lack of certificates.

During his second term as head of the country, he shifted the government's focus towards developing and increasing the capabilities of Indonesia's human resources. The goal is to be able to compete with other countries.
