Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated International Yoga Day in the land of meditation , Srinagar, Friday. Addressing an event in the Jammu and Kashmir capital, Prime Minister Modi said yoga helps its practitioners realize that our well-being is linked to that of the world around us. Noting that the number of people practicing the ancient Indian system has increased over the past decade, the Prime Minister said the “yoga economy” has generated jobs in India.

Following the proposal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in 2014.

“I extend my greetings to the people of the country and those practicing yoga in every corner of the world on the occasion of Yoga Day. International Yoga Day completed a historic journey of 10 years. In 2014, I “I proposed International Yoga Day at the United Nations. Prime Minister Modi said the expansion of yoga across the world has given a boost to yoga tourism in India.

“Over the past 10 years, the expansion of Yoga has changed the perception of Yoga… Today, the world is seeing a new Yoga economy developing. In India, from Rishikesh and Kashi to Kerala, a new connection of Yoga Tourism We see tourists from all over the world coming to India because they want to learn authentic yoga in India… People are even resorting to personal yoga trainers for their fitness… All this has created new opportunities for young people, new employment opportunities for young people,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi said that since the adoption of International Yoga Day, the number of people practicing yoga has continued to increase across the world.

“Their attraction to yoga is also growing. Everywhere I go and whatever world leaders I meet, they ask me about yoga with curiosity. Yoga has become part of everyday life,” he said. -he declares.

PM Modi further said that yoga promotes strength, good health and well-being.

He urged the masses to adopt the ancient system dedicated to physical, mental and spiritual well-being, as an important part of their daily lives.

“This year, in India, a 101-year-old French yoga teacher received the Padma Shri. She had never been to India but has dedicated her entire life to raising awareness about yoga. Today, research on yoga are being conducted in India, prestigious universities and institutions across the world are being published,” he added.
