President Joko Widodo confirms no social assistance for online gamers
INDOZONE.ID – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that online game players (Judol) will not receive social assistance (Bansos) from the government.
“There are not any” Jokowi highlighted this during his working visit to Karanganyar, Central Java, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Wednesday (6/19/2024).
Including plans for social assistance policies for this group, he said there were none. “Not available,” he said.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy emphasized that the beneficiaries of social assistance for victims of online gaming were their families and not the players.
“Please understand it, don't cut it into pieces. The perpetrator clearly needs to be prosecuted because this is a criminal act. What I mean by welfare recipients, these are family members such as children and wives/husbands,” he said after Eid. al-Adha prayers in the courtyard of the Muhammadiyah Central Management Office (PP) in Menteng, Jakarta, Monday.
He gave this explanation as a clarification of the information that has been circulating in recent days on different social networks regarding the idea of the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture to offer social assistance to victims of online gaming.

He then added that it was not allowed to provide social assistance to victims of online gambling, as this was proposed by the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture during preparations for the formation of a task force for the eradication of online gaming.
The PMK Coordinating Minister acts as vice-chairman of the Online Gaming Eradication Task Force, accompanying Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto who is heading the ad hoc team.
This task force was formed based on Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 21 of 2024 Concerning the Task Force on the Eradication of Online Gaming, issued in Jakarta on June 14, 2024.
Muhadjir said social assistance would help families affected by online gaming behavior, as families, especially children and wives, not only suffer material losses, but also have a negative impact on mental health, or even death in many cases.
