Haleem condemns crackdown on PTI protests

Following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) call, protests and rallies were held across Sindh, as well as the rest of the country, demanding the release of PTI founder and chairman Imran Khan. In Karachi, a rally led by PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh was held in various areas of the city.

Top leaders of PTI Sindh including Rizwan Niazi, Alamgir Khan, Moazzam Khan, Abid Qureshi, Seem Khan, Maulana Jameel Azhar Vathra, Anwar Mehdi, Ayesha Rashid and others participated in the rally.

Addressing the gathering, Haleem Adil Sheikh said that Imran Khan is fighting for the survival of Pakistan and he has been unjustly imprisoned on false charges. He urged the public to take to the streets and register their protests in support of their leader. “The country is going through a very delicate phase,” Sheikh noted.

Sheikh stressed that peaceful protest is a constitutional right of every Pakistani, but the current regime has set aside the constitution and laws, effectively imposing a civil dictatorship. He also criticized the heavy police presence at Insaf House in Karachi, aimed at arresting PTI workers, while other parties are allowed to hold their programs with protocol, calling it a double standard that feeds the public resentment.

Sheikh further accused the so-called democratic Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government in Sindh of depriving the people of their basic rights. He stressed that the entire nation is witnessing that Imran Khan is a political victimization by the current government, unjustly imprisoned since August 5, 2023. “Until the judiciary of this country is independent, justice will not prevail not,” he added. , claiming that the rights of the people are being usurped.
