James Cleverly leaves door open to run for Tory leader
Boris Johnson should be allowed to take part in the election campaign, Robert Jenrick has said, describing the former prime minister as a star of the Tory moment.
Mr Jenrick, the immigration minister, citing Partygate and the Chris Pincher sex scandal, said Mr Johnson had paid a heavy price for what happened in the past.
Appearing on Sky's Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, he said: He's a brilliant campaigner, a superb Tory politician and I think at this moment the whole Tory family needs to come together. We must come together.
I know that Boris has campaigned for, endorsed and endorsed Tory candidates. I think it's great and I want to see him welcomed and encouraged to do more in this campaign, and even in the future.
Meanwhile, James Cleverly has not ruled out the possibility that he is keen to replace Rishi Sunak as leader of the Conservative Party.
