AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday (June 23) launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Center over the paper leak incidents in the recent exams and presumptive Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he described like an exam warrior in a pot shot, waged a war against the future of our young people. He asked Prime Minister Modi and his ministers to take responsibility for the alleged irregularities that allegedly took place in the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams, leading to the cancellation of the latter.

Owaisi said the youth of the country deserve an apology from the Prime Minister.

Exam warrior @narendramodi has waged a war against the future of our youth. First it was NEET UG (~23 lakh students) and then UGC-NET (~9 lakh students). Then CSIR-NET was canceled (~2 lakh students). NEET-PG (~2 lakh) was canceled a night before the exam. The responsibility lies with Modi and his ministers. Our youth deserve an apology from the Prime Minister and justice from his government, Owaisi posted on X.

The reference to Owaisi's 'Exam Warriors' was in the context of PM Modi's book for students titled 'Exam Warriors', intended to help them deal with exam stress.

Paper leaks

Students have been marred by back-to-back paper leak incidents in the recent past, starting with NEET-UG, after UGC-NET whose question paper was leaked on the darknet. On Saturday evening, the government postponed the NEET-PG exam, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 23, as a precautionary measure following recent allegations over the integrity of some competitive examinations.

UGC-NET had to be canceled just one day after its completion. The government has ordered a CBI probe into the irregularities found in the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams. The central investigating agency has registered separate FIRs in both the cases.

NTA criticized for alleged exam irregularities

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the NEET-UG exams, is facing criticism over alleged irregularities in the exams. This resulted in several protests across the country, with demonstrators and political parties demanding the dissolution of the NTA. An unprecedented 67 candidates scored a perfect 720 out of 720 points, adding to concerns.

The Education Ministry said it has constituted a high-level expert committee to make recommendations on reforms in the examination process mechanism, improvement of data security protocols and functioning of the NTA. The 7-member committee, headed by former ISRO chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan, will submit its report to the ministry in the next two months.

“In order to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education has constituted a high-level expert committee level to make recommendations on reforming the mechanism for improving the data review process, security protocols as well as the structure and operation of the National Testing Agency,” the ministry said.
