President Joko Widodo is upset that many Indonesian citizens enjoy watching concerts in Singapore

PRESIDENT Joko Widodo (Jokowi) mentioned the many Indonesian citizens (WNI) who enjoy watching music concerts in Singapore. This impacts the circulation of money or cash flow in the country.

The President gave the example of the Taylor Swift concert which took place last March. The American artist managed to attract 360,000 spectators.

“I think more than half of those watching are Indonesians. If we flock to watch this in Singapore, there's what's called a capital outflow. The flow of money from Indonesia to Singapore, we are losing (money),” Jokowi said in his speech at the inauguration event of the launch of the digitalization of event organization licensing services, at The Tribrata, South Jakarta, Monday (24 /6).

Then the Coldplay concert took place for six days in Singapore. He also estimates that more than half of the audience are Indonesian citizens.

“Because here, the tickets have only been used for 20 minutes, but if you want to add more, you can’t,” he explained.
