Boris Johnson accuses Nigel Farage of 'repeating Putin's lies' as pair clash over Ukraine conflict

BORIS Johnson has accused Nigel Farage of repeating Putin's lies over the Ukraine conflict.

The former prime minister blasted the reform leader after he said the West had provoked Russia's invasion.

It came amid speculation the pair could try to save the Conservative party after the expected July 4 defeat.

Mr Johnson spoke after Mr Farage said: If you poke the Russian bear with a stick, don't be surprised if he responds.

He accused his Brexiteer ally of spreading Kremlin propaganda and continued: There is only one person responsible for Russian aggression against Ukraine in 2014 and 2022: Putin.

Trying to spread blame is morally repugnant and repeating Putin's lies. Former NATO chief Lord Robertson claimed Mr Farage had shown his true colors by talking appeasement.

He told LBC radio: “One of my successors at NATO summed up the situation clearly if Russia stops fighting there will be peace. If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no Ukraine.

But Mr Farage defended his position yesterday at a rally in Maidstone, Kent. He said: “I will never defend Putin and I think his behavior in Ukraine and elsewhere has been reprehensible.
