Indonesia to allocate $4 billion for free school meals
The Indonesian government and President-elect Prabowo Subianto have agreed to allocate IDR 71 trillion (about $4 billion) for a free school meals program as part of the 2025 state budget, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati during a press conference in Jakarta on June 24.

Jakarta The Indonesian government and President-elect Prabowo Subianto have agreed to allocate IDR 71 trillion (about $4 billion) for a free school meals program in the 2025 state budget, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said Indrawati during a press conference in Jakarta on June 24.
As reported by national news agency Antara, the minister said Prabowo agreed on the gradual implementation of the free nutritious meal (MBG) program. The corresponding budget was included in the draft state budget for 2025 agreed during the discussion on the macroeconomic framework and fiscal policy principles (KEM-PPKF).
On the same occasion, Thomas Djiwandono, member of the financial sector of the Prabowo-Gibran government's synchronization task force team, said that the budget allocation was agreed by the current and future governments.
Prabowo Subianto is expected to take office in October this year, succeeding President Joko Widodo.
