ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah has given credence to reports that the federal government is planning to file fresh charges against jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan , in an attempt to delay his release from prison.

Imran Khan's main aim is to destabilize the country and spread chaos and anarchy in the country. That is why the government will definitely try to keep him behind bars for as long as possible, the Prime Minister's advisor said while speaking on Geo News show Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath. Tuesday.

He said this while responding to a question on reports that the government was considering delaying the release of the PTI founder as courts had granted him relief in several cases. persistently he has only one goal: to spread lawlessness and evil in the country, therefore for the good of the country he [Imran Khan] must be kept behind bars.

The Prime Minister's advisor said the government would use all legal means, including registration of new cases, to delay the release of the PTI founder. Replying to a question, Sanaullah said the government would not forcibly keep the PTI founder in jail and all measures would be taken in accordance with the Constitution and law.

Like the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the prime minister's aide said the PTI also got a public mandate in the general elections. However, he said the PTI founder had violated the mandate by organizing violent protests, including attacks on courts, and allegedly orchestrating the May 9 riots.

Despite this, Sanaullah said no storm would arise if the PTI founder managed to free himself from the jail. He urged the PTI founder to come forward to talk to his political rivals in a democratic manner, saying the Nawaz-led party had no personal grudge against him. He then said that the deposed prime minister did not believe in political dialogue and democracy.

Sanaullah added that even if Mahmood Khan Achakzai, mediator appointed by the PTI-backed opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen (TTAP), took a step forward, Imran would immediately seize his mandate to hold negotiations. The politician said there was no other option than dialogue to resolve differences.
