PTI chairman demands immediate release of Imran – Journal

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan on Wednesday requested the court to release former Prime Minister Imran Khan without delay.

If justice is not delivered on time, it is an injustice, the PTI chief said at a conference organized by the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) in the auditorium of the Upper Bar Association. Lahore Court (LHCBA).

He recognized the important role that the Lahore High Court has always played in upholding the rule of law and strengthening Parliament. He mentioned that the LHCBA always fights for the supremacy of public rights.

Referring to party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the PTI president regretted that someone who has always delivered justice is now seeking it himself. He said the PTI had no conflict with anyone, but only advocated for the rule of law.

Advocate Gohar said that women PTI members were frequently arrested in different cases and more than 200 cases had been filed against Imran Khan. He claimed that there was no case against Bushra Bibi and that she was only imprisoned because of her association with Imran Khan.

He praised the lawyers of Lahore for raising their voice for justice and mentioned that winning the public vote was the biggest success of the PTI. Our goal is to ensure that no one is above the law and that there is one law for everyone, he said.

PTI MP lawyer Sardar Latif Khan Khosa said the nation would accept nothing less than the supremacy of the Constitution.

He termed Pakistan Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa's decision to strip the PTI of its bat symbol as one of the worst made by the Supreme Court.

He claimed that the entire court would return the seats reserved for the Sunni Ittehad Council and the Iddat case against Imran Khan and his wife would also be quashed.

ILF President Ishtiaq A. Khan said a historic moment was about to happen like the movement against military dictatorship that started from the bar of the High Court, adding that lawyers were launching the movement for the release of the PTI founder from the same place.

He demanded that the CJP resign because the lawyers did not trust him.

Later, ILF members took out a protest rally from the bar to GPO Chowk.
