Jakarta: Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat Setya Utama said that Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) himself chose the location of his nursing home in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. This retirement home was offered to him by the State after he left office as president. “The President himself requested and chose the location of his residence. Of course, he himself and his family know this,” Setya said in a brief message to reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, June 27, 2024. Regarding the area of the president's retirement home, he said, in accordance with the specified budget ceiling. The amount is regulated in Regulation of the Ministry of Finance (Permenkeu) number 120/PMK.06/2022 regarding the provision, feasibility standards and calculation of the value of housing for former presidents and/or former vice-presidents of the Republic of Indonesia. “The house can be occupied immediately and becomes property, it can be passed on to one's heirs,” Setya explained. According to Law Number 7 of 1978 Concerning the Financial/Administrative Rights of the President, Vice President and Former President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the State provides a house for the former President and to the former vice president. In Presidential Regulation Number 52 of 2014 regarding the purchase and standards of housing for former presidents and/or former vice presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, it is stated that former presidents and/or former vice presidents n 'are entitled to receive a house only once, including those who serve more than one term.
