Meeting with MPR leaders, Jokowi requests that 2024 MPR annual session be held as usual

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo has called for the annual session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) RI and a number of other sessions of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence 2024 commemoration series were held as in previous years.
The President conveyed this during his meeting with MPR RI leaders at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday (28/7/2024).
“Mr. President emphasized that the sessions held during the commemoration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia should remain as they were in previous years, namely MPR Annual Session “RI and the joint session of the DPR RI and the DPD RI, as well as the plenary session of the DPR RI regarding RAPBN 2025,” Minister of State (Mensesneg) Pratikno said in a statement after accompanying the President to the meeting .

Then, Pratikno said, President Jokowi also said that the military ceremony for the moments of proclamation of Indonesian independence would be held in the archipelago capital (IKN) with a limited number of participants.
At the same time, a ceremony will also be held at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
“Regarding the invitation of MPR RI leaders to the President to attend the commemoration of Constitution Day on August 18, 2024 in the evening in Jakarta, the President said that he would arrange a time to attend,” explained Pratikno .
During the meeting, the Head of State also highlighted the importance of interinstitutional communication to build national synergy.
“Mr. President stressed the importance of communication between state institutions to build national synergy and ensure that Indonesia is always strong in the face of the uncertain global situation,” Pratikno added.

At the consultation meeting, MPR RI Chairman Bambang Soesatyo was present, as well as 8 MPR RI vice-chairmen, namely Ahmad Basarah, Ahmad Muzani, Jazilul Fawaid, Sjarifuddin Hasan, Muhammad Hidayat Nur Wahid, Yandri Susanto, Muhammad Amir Uskara. , and Fadel Muhammad, as well as the secretary general of the MPR RI Siti Fauziah.
