PSI denies that Joko Widodo intervened in the promotion of Kaesang Pangarep in the DKI Jakarta regional elections
DetikSumsel.com — General Chairman (Ketum) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, denied that his father and President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, prevented him from running in the 2024 regional elections ( Pilkada) in DKI Jakarta.
“Don't mention the president, I am the general president,” he declared on Friday, June 28, 2024.

According to Kaesang Pangaarep, the party that has the right to decide who will represent the PSI in the regional elections is himself as general president.
Kaesang Pangarep will also take several elements into consideration when determining who will run in the DKI Jakarta regional elections. One of them is that many parties have approached the PSI to ask for support from the party with the red rose symbol.
“PSI has seats in DKI Jakarta, no less than eight seats. There are also many parties that propose their champions so that PSI supports them. The statement of the PKS Secretary General could close the door to a coalition with PSI, so it is not a big deal either.” he said.
Apart from that, he hopes that the parties that propagate this issue will not harm the dynamics of the 2024 regional elections with fake news that would mislead the public. “Moreover, it will be detrimental to those who like to spread such fake news. Earlier, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Secretary General Aboe Bakar Habsyi said that the President of the Republic of Indonesia had proposed the name of Kaesang Pangarep, PSI General Chairman, to political parties to be nominated in the DKI Jakarta regional elections.
Kaesang Pangarep is rumored to be interested in being associated with former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.
It is known that the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of PSI DKI Jakarta stated that there would be a surprise in August 2024 regarding the names of potential candidates for governor of the Jakarta Pilkada.
