Xi Jinping: China ready to take comprehensive strategic partnership with Peru to new heights

BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday that China is willing to work with Peru to push the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights, expressing active support for the success of this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economic leaders' meeting, which will be hosted by Peru.

Xi made the remarks during talks in Beijing with Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, who is on a state visit to China.

Xi said Peru was one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic relations and a comprehensive strategic partnership with the People's Republic of China, and the first Latin American country to sign a set of free trade agreements with China.

Hailing the fruitful results of bilateral cooperation in various fields, Xi said Chinese companies have played an important role in Peru's economic development and improving people's livelihood through major cooperation projects.

China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Peru and stands ready to work with the latter to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, promote mutual learning among civilizations and strengthen multilateral coordination, thereby pushing the comprehensive strategic partnership with Peru to new heights, Xi said.
