PTI rejects Omar Ayubs' resignation as general secretary amid internal conflicts

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentary Party on Friday expressed its disagreement over PTI founder President Imran Khan's decision to accept the resignation of PTI General Secretary Omar Ayub, urging him to reverse course. -turn and take Ayub back to his post. .

The demand from the party's parliamentary faction came 24 hours after the incarcerated PTI president approved the decision of Ayub, who is also the opposition leader in the National Assembly, to resign from his post.

Ayub's resignation comes amid reports of divisions within the PTI, with sources saying several Sunni lawmakers from the PTI-backed Ittehad Council were considering resigning from the National Assembly in protest against the party's top leadership.

Speculation about a forward bloc comes from reports attributing to sources claiming that nearly two dozen of these lawmakers have hinted that they are forming a forward bloc due to the failure of the leaders to secure the release of Imran Khan from prison.

Reports added that the disgruntled lawmakers also “conveyed a message” to Khan and Ayub, urging them to make serious efforts for the release of the jailed leaders.

They claimed that the disgruntled MPs say some leaders are aiming for higher positions instead of focusing on the release of the PTI founder and other jailed party leaders, saying they seem happy with the situation.
