Imran Khan takes steps to crack down on members involved in infighting and 'forward blocs' within the party

Jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has taken notice of reports of internal conflicts and a forward bloc within the party, demanding the names of the members involved.

Speculation about the forward bloc comes from reports that attribute to sources claiming that nearly two dozen of these lawmakers have hinted at wanting to form a forward bloc due to the leaders' failure to secure Imran Khan's release from prison.

According to Express News, persistent reports of factionalism within the PTI prompted the PTI chief to ask for the names of members involved in factionalism and forward blocs.

Sources say Imran has ordered the party leadership to present the names of those involved in the forward blocs of the Senate and the National Assembly (NA) in the next meeting.

The former prime minister also stressed strict adherence to party discipline, ordering action against those who repeatedly violate party rules.

The resignations are coming

The PTI has recently seen a wave of resignations after rumors of advanced blockages and internal conflicts became apparent.

Amid escalating conflicts within the PTI, lawmaker Junaid Akbar resigned from the party's central committee on Saturday.

His resignation follows that of opposition leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub, who resigned as PTI secretary general, signaling further changes in the party's organizational structure.

Sher Afzal Marwat demanded the resignation of PTI Senator Shibli Faraz, accusing him of preventing access to jailed PTI founder Imran Khan.

Confusion reigns within the PTI over Omar's resignation, amid rumors of rifts within the party. On the one hand, the party announced that it would hold rallies for the release of the party leader, while on the other, the general secretary left the key party post to concentrate on parliamentary affairs.

At its meeting held on June 28 at Parliament, “the Parliamentary Party unanimously expressed its complete confidence in Omar Ayub Khan as PTI General Secretary.”

An official statement said that “the Parliamentary Party unanimously decides that his resignation cannot be accepted and that he can be instructed to continue to exercise his functions as Secretary General of the party.”
