Ngabalin denies Jokowi gave Kaesang name to political parties for Jakarta regional elections
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Chief Expert IV of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, claims that President Joko Widodo did not do so. cawe-cawe or interfere in the 2024 Jakarta legislative elections.
He dismissed rumours that the president had proposed the name of his son, Kaesang Pangarep, to a number of political parties to run in Jakarta.
“There is absolutely nothing,” Ngabalin said in his statement reported on Saturday (29/6/2024).
Ngabalin asked the public to double-check the reports that Jokowi had proposed Kaesang's name to political parties. Do not let this information become slander.
“You must verify the accuracy of the information so as not to spread slander. Now is the time for people to spread rumors and problems related to discrediting Mas Kaesang,” he said.

Ngabalin also said that everyone has the right to run as regional leader, including Kaesang.
“Regarding political issues, whether someone can become governor or not, whether he is a candidate or not is a democratic right for everyone. Is it because Kaesang is Pak Jokowi's son that he cannot not run for office?” he added.
As previously reported, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Secretary General Aboe Bakar Al Habsyi said Jokowi had proposed the name of his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep, to win a seat in the 2024 Jakarta regional elections.
Aboe said Jokowi had proposed Kaesang's name to several political parties.
“That's it, I have already proposed (Kaesang to several parties). It has already been proposed, we will see,” Aboe Bakar said in Grand Sahid Jaya, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.
Aboe did not further explain which parties had been offered Kaesang's name. He, however, neither denied nor confirmed that PKS was among the proposed parties.
