President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he no longer wants the Food Estate food barn project to be funded by the APBN. Unlike Jokowi, Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman said that funding for the food plantation program could be done either by the APBN or through investments.
“You can do both. If someone wants to open an investment (investment), thank God, he can do both,” Amran said during a working visit to Kapanewon Turi, Sleman Regency, Saturday (29/6/2024).

According to Amran, it does not matter whether the source of financing for this food area comes from APBN or investors. He stressed that the main thing here lies in efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency.
“So the important point here is not APBN or the private sector, the important point is that our goal of self-sufficiency is achieved, that is the important point. Whether the process is private or APBN does not matter. If there is a private sector that is interested, we will support the private sector,” he stressed.
So far, the government's efforts to achieve this have consisted of creating new rice fields of around three million hectares in three years.
