Sunak visited only five at-risk Tory seats

Rishi Sunak campaigned in only five of the 45 constituencies where Cabinet members and other conservative politicians are at risk of losing their seats, according to an analysis of his campaign record.
The Prime Minister visited mid-Devon, where a poll commissioned by Best for Britain puts Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride in second place by a margin of 6.94.
Sunak also visited Melksham and Devizes, where Science Secretary Michelle Donelan is expected to win with just 7.8 points between her and second place, and Suffolk Coastal, where Conservative candidate Therese Coffey is expected to lose by a margin of 5.5 , according to the survey.
He also visited Stoke-on-Trent North, where the poll puts Jonathan Gullis as the loser by a margin of 17.79, and his own seat of Richmond and Northallerton, where the Prime Minister is expected to regain his seat by a margin of 6, 89.
He did not visit the other 40 constituencies identified on Friday.
Best for Britain highlighted a Daily Mail report that several candidates refused to allow Sunak to come and campaign in their potential constituencies.
Naomi Smith, chief executive of Best for Britain, said: “Sunak’s problem is that even his own party doesn’t want him, let alone the public.”
We need a clean break with him, his party and the damage they have done over the last 14 years, and the best way for voters to ensure the Conservatives are kept out of power for at least a decade is to vote tactically.
A poll commissioned by the group shows that a third of the 45 seats are won or lost by the Conservative candidate by a margin of less than 5%.
Victoria Prentis is expected to win, but just 0.67 points separate her from second place in her constituency of Banbury, while John Glen is expected to lose in Salisbury by a margin of just 0.4 points, according to the poll.
Best for Britain is behind the GetVoting.org campaign, which makes tactical voting recommendations with the aim of inflicting the biggest possible defeat on the Conservative Party.
The group presents itself as having solved the problems facing Britain after Brexit.
The at-risk seat data is based on a survey and analysis of 22,149 people conducted by Survation between May 31 and June 13.
