Pakistani party Imran Khan denounces defense minister's allusions to operations in Afghanistan

After Pakistani Defence Minister hinted at possible operations against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan, Imran Khan's PTI condemned the remarks, saying Pakistan should refrain from interfering in other countries.

Recently, Pakistan's defense minister warned that under the new military operation, “Operation Resolve”, Pakistani Taliban sanctuaries in Afghanistan would be targeted.

In an interview with the Urdu section of Voice of America, Pakistan's defense minister accused the Afghan Taliban of harboring Pakistani fighters.

Asad Qaiser, a senior member of Pakistan's ruling party, has expressed concern over Pakistan's military actions, which reflect India's competitive behavior towards Afghanistan, according to Geo TV.

Qaiser stressed that Pakistan cannot afford escalation of conflict and instability in the region.

He believes that carrying out attacks inside Afghanistan could dangerously lead the entire region towards war.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party has stressed the need to refrain from intervening in any other country.

Opposition leaders have criticised Khawaja Asif's statements, warning that they endanger not only the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan but also regional peace.

Omar Ayub, another opposition member, equated launching attacks on Afghan soil with starting a war in the region.

In recent months, Pakistan has seen an increase in attacks by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), particularly targeting Pakistani officials and security forces. The TTP has intensified its insurgency, with Pakistani officials claiming that Afghan Taliban factions support and shelter TTP operations.

These attacks caused casualties among Pakistani security forces and the army, exacerbating tensions in the region.

The Afghan Taliban, however, have vehemently denied the allegations. Their spokesmen have said they do not support the TTP or its activities in Pakistan.

Despite the denials, the accusations have strained relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, adding complexity to efforts aimed at regional stability and security cooperation.
