Hailing the Indian cricket team as champions after the T20 World Cup victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said cricketers have won the hearts of millions.
He said on X: “CHAMPIONS! Our team is bringing the T20 World Cup home in STYLE! We are proud of the Indian Cricket Team.”

President Draupadi Murmu also congratulated the Indian cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup and said the country was proud of them.

Prime Minister Modi described the thriller in which India repelled a determined South African team as historic.
More than 140 million Indians are proud of the performance of cricketers, he said, adding that they won the cup on the field and the hearts of millions of Indians in villages and streets.
Noting that India did not lose a single match, the Prime Minister said it was no small achievement in a tournament in which so many countries participated.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia also congratulated the Indian cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup.
The Indian cricket team has proven its superiority. With hard work and constant practice, it is easy to achieve big goals. That is what the Indian cricket team has done, Yadav said after the Indian team won the final against South Africa.
