Foreign policy, lunar mission and heavy rains mark the week in China
President Xi Jinping and top Chinese leaders attended a conference marking the 70th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the foundation of China's foreign policy.
In his speech, Xi Jinping announced new measures to strengthen cooperation with countries in the South and promote a new global architecture.
He predicted that China would establish a research center on the South, offer more than 100,000 scholarships and training opportunities, and launch the Young Southern Leaders Program in the next five years.
To support agriculture in these countries, China will donate ten million dollars to renew the South-South and Tripartite Cooperation Fund of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Another important event this week was the successful landing, a world first, of the Chang'e-6 probe carrying samples from the far side of the Moon.
Peruvian President Dina Boluarte's official visit, her meeting with Chinese business leaders and the signing of the 2024-2029 Joint Action Plan with Xi also made headlines this week in China.
The two presidents signed cooperation documents in the fields of economy and trade, digital economy, scientific and technological innovation, inspection and quarantine and media.
Heavy rains and floods continued to hit southern regions of China this week.
