PTI wants IHC chief justice to resign after Tyrian White case order – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The PTI has called for the resignation of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamir Farooq after his fellow judges questioned his conduct in the Tyrian White case against former prime minister Imran Khan.

A day after the decision of a three-judge bench of the IHC was released, the PTI said Chief Justice Farooq had no moral reason to continue in his post.

Earlier in May, the three judges rejected a motion seeking Mr. Khan's disqualification for concealing his alleged daughter, Tyrian White.

In their detailed order, the judges criticized CJ Farooq for dissolving a previous three-judge bench, of which he was also a member, after two members disagreed with his view that the petition against Mr Khan was admissible.

A spokesman said the party could take the top judge to the Supreme Court

Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Arbab Mohammad Tahir wanted the petitions to be dismissed, but the CJ, instead of announcing the majority judgment (2-1), dissolved the judiciary in May 2023.

After that, the case was not scheduled for a hearing for a year.

The PTI spokesperson said the party was mulling a suggestion to approach the Supreme Judicial Council against CJ Farooq in light of the three-member decision.

The spokesperson asserted that yet another unethical, absurd and fabricated case against the PTI founding chairman had reached its logical conclusion as truth had finally prevailed.

The decision was a slap in the face of those who display moral values ​​and an indictment of the system.

The PTI spokesperson hoped that the 203 cases against Mr Khan would suffer the same fate, adding that it had been proven that figures like the IHC Chief Justice, sitting within the judiciary, had provided oxygen to the state to unleash a reign of terror and an operation against 240 million people and Imran Khan in the last two years.

The PTI spokesperson reiterated that in the presence of a free, autonomous and law-abiding judiciary, no one could ever get a chance to create anarchy or anarchy.

Unfortunately, the IHC Chief Justice has supported all attempts to desecrate the Constitution and bend the law to subject PTI workers and leaders to political vendetta.

The PTI spokesperson alleged that CJ Farooq facilitated and saved the orchestrators and planners of the May 9 operation by justifying the violent abduction of Imran Khan from the court premises and failing to hold the paramilitary forces accountable the deletion of video surveillance images of this incident.

The PTI spokesperson also referred to the letter written by six IHC judges to the SJC regarding the alleged interference of intelligence agencies in judicial matters. The honorable judges were left with no option but to write this letter due to the inaction of Chief Justice Farooq to prevent spy agencies from interfering in court matters.
