KPK confirms that President Jokowi's social assistance is corrupt
Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) spokeswoman Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto said the welfare purchase being investigated by the KPK was linked to the welfare distributed by President Jokowi to the public.
“Yes, it is true that the aid under investigation is part of the aid provided by the president to the community,” Tessa was quoted as saying RMOL political news agency, Sunday (6/30).
Tessa explained that the contents of the presidential welfare package included various items, such as rice, cooking oil, biscuits and several other basic necessities.
“The suspects' actions to take advantage of the reduction in the quality of social assistance that should reach the community have harmed the spirit of the government, the spirit of President Jokowi, to provide assistance, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic,” Tessa explained.
Tessa stressed that the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) will complete the investigation process in this case so that it can be immediately tried in court.
“The Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) is therefore very concerned about the actions taken by the suspects and is committed to resolving this case to the end,” Tessa concluded.
In this case, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) named a suspect, namely Ivo Wongkaren (IW) as the senior director of PT Mitra Energi Persada (MEP) as well as the advisory team of PT Primalayan Teknologi Persada (PTP). The alleged financial loss of the state related to the provision of presidential welfare reached IDR 250 billion.
Ivo Wongkaren was previously convicted in the Covid-19 rice welfare distribution case. He was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison and fined IDR 1 billion alternatively to 12 months in prison. Apart from this, Ivo also had to pay compensation amounting to Rp 62,591,907,120 (Rp 62.59 billion) to 5 years in prison.
