LSI Survey Indicates Jokowi Effect Still Strong in Central Java, Hasto PDIP Says
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, responded to the results of a survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) regarding the effects of President Joko Widodo, alias Jokowi According to Hasto, the PDIP is still optimistic that it will win the elections late next year, even though Jokowi's influence is still seen as strong in the province.

The results of the latest survey by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) show the level of satisfaction of Central Java residents with President Jokowi's performance. According to Djayadi Hanan, executive director of LSI, up to 85 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with Jokowi's performance; while 13.1 percent said they were less or not satisfied.
Djayadi said Central Javanese people's level of satisfaction with Jokowi could influence regional elections in the province later this year. He said respondents who were satisfied with the president's performance tended to choose his son, PSI Chairman General Kaesang Pangarep, and Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi.
“Central Javanese or Central Java voters who say they are satisfied with the president's support tend to go to Kaesang Baru, followed by Ahmad Luthfi,” Djayadi said. After these two names, said Djayadi, there is also the name of former Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen.
The population of LSI's latest survey consists of Indonesian citizens from Central Java Province aged 17 and above or married. In total, 1,200 respondents were selected using the method double sampling.
LSI conducted telephone interviews with respondents between June 21 and 26, 2024. The survey institute said the results had margin of error approximately 2.8 percent and a 95 percent confidence level.
