No chance of Imran getting out of jail under current PTI leadership: Fawad Chaudhry – Pakistan

Former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday that he saw no chance of PTI founder Imran Khan being released from Adiala jail as long as the current party leadership is in power.

His remarks are the latest in a series of criticisms levelled against the current PTI leadership over the past week.

Chaudhry, who quit the PTI following the state crackdown on the party following the May 9 riots, said earlier this month that the current PTI leadership had miserably failed to provide a political strategy due to which problems were deepening for the party despite massive public support.

PTI's real aim should be to build an opposition alliance with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Jamaat-i-Islami, Chaudhry had said while speaking to reporters at his residence of Ladhar.

Meanwhile, in a private conversation with Dawn on Thursday, Chaudhry said no one in the current party leadership has the political stature or ability to mobilize the masses like Imran has done. .

Chaudhry had even claimed that there were people within the party who did not want to see Imran Khan released from jail as it would mean the end of their political career.

In a new video message on his X account today, Chaudhry said that a number of people had advised him not to criticize the leadership as it would weaken the party. However, he added, he does not see even a 1% chance of Imran being released from jail as long as the current leadership takes strategic decisions.

He said he had been criticised for coming back now that the good times had returned, but questioned whether the current situation could be considered that.

There are 47 cases pending against me, he said, adding that the hard times were not over for the leaders who were still in jail or facing charges.

He said a large number of PTI leaders were still in jail. The difficult times have probably [only] finished for people who have not encountered any difficulties, he said.

There is not even a 1 in 100 chance that the current leadership can get Imran out [of jail]he said.

He said the current party leadership had no political strategy nor the capacity to create one.

Without naming anyone, he accused the PTI information secretary of charging money from the party for his services, accusing the party leadership of running its own economy.

He said veteran party members should be included in decision-making so that a policy plan can be created.

Later in the day, speaking to Geo News TV, Chaudhry said the current PTI leadership should also allow others to approach Imran in jail.

These leaders are not allowing access to Imran Khan so that their business model continues to work, he said.

While responding to the party's counter-accusation that Chaudhry was desperate to return, he said: Of course I am desperate, I am desperate because I can see how these people are sinking the ship. [] They have no political strategy.
