Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian captain Rohit Sharmaformer captain Virat Kohli and coach Rahul Dravid on India's historic triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024. PM Modi called out the players and shared a photo of the trio chatting with the prime minister.

The Prime Minister heaped praise on each of them as both Rohit and Virat have announced their retirement from T20I cricket, and Dravid's tenure as head coach is about to end, with Gautam Gambhir ready to take the top job.

After the Men in Blue beat South Africa by 7 runs in a tense final in Barbados, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the players by calling them and his heartfelt wish for Kohli went viral on social media.

The Prime Minister wrote that while the shortest format will miss Kohli's genius, he hoped to see the 35-year-old continue to bring joy to fans in the other two formats.

“Dear @imVkohli, Nice to talk to you. Like in the final innings, you anchored the Indian batting magnificently. You shone in all forms of the game. You will be missed in T20 Cricket but I am confident that you will continue to motivate the new generation of players,” PM Modi wrote on X.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had written in a separate tweet that he congratulated the Indian players and lauded them for their efforts and commitment.

“I spoke to the Indian team and congratulated them on their exemplary success in the T20 World Cup. They have displayed excellent skills and spirit throughout the tournament. The commitment of each and every player is very motivating,” PM Modi wrote.

Kohli had played a superb 76-run knock in the final, helping India score 176-7, and he was adjudged the player of the match in the final.
