Prabowo undergoes major surgery to treat left leg injury

Jakarta: Defense Minister (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto has undergone major surgery to repair a left leg injury. The major operation was performed a week ago.
This information was conveyed by Prabowo via the Instagram account @prabowo. The elected president shared the moment he received a visit from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“Thank you to the President of the Republic of Indonesia @jokowi who provided moral support and prayers,” Prabowo was quoted as saying on the Instagram account @prabowo on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Prabowo explained that the major operation was carried out due to a serious injury to his left leg while he was still active in the TNI. This injury was sustained due to two skydiving accidents.
“I had two parachuting accidents while serving in the TNI in the 80s in my left leg, I still feel that injury,” he said.
He said that the medical procedures performed were very risky as they risked life. However, medical measures must be taken.
“I am also sure that the team of doctors and all the medical staff who treated him are reliable and professional,” he said.
The health team working is Brigadier General TNI Retired Dr. Robert Hutauruk, Colonel Dr. Sunaryo, Dr. Siska Widayati, assisted by Dr. Thomas and all the nursing and medical staff of RSPPN Sudirman.
Prabowo said the medical treatment was successful. The injuries he sustained are considered healed.
