An internal divide surfaces within Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party

Islamabad [Pakistan]June 30 (ANI): Internal tensions have surfaced within Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as its internal report has blamed party chief Sher Afzal Marwat for the brawl between opposition leader Omar Ayub and other party workers, Pakistan-based Geo News reported, citing The News.

The report, which will be presented to the PTI founder on July 2, holds Marwat responsible for the scuffle with Omar.

The scuffle reportedly took place outside Islamabad's court complex on Thursday when a district and sessions court rejected the pleas of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Imran seeking suspension of their sentences in the “Iddat” case.

Marwat had wanted to lead the party's protest rally with Khan's support, but this led to an unpleasant situation, forcing Omar to leave the venue in a hurry, in complete disbelief.

Marwat has remained in the spotlight in recent months due to his outspoken remarks and differences with party members. He was removed from his positions in the PTI central committee and political committee and served with a notice due to his outspoken remarks, Geo News reported.

Ahead of the general elections on February 3, an Islamabad court sentenced the couple to seven years in prison and a fine of PKR 500,000 each for marrying during the Iddat period of Bushra Bibi.

The couple were sentenced to 14 years in prison in the Toshakhana case, while Imran and his foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, were sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Cypher case, the same week that the verdict has been rendered. (ANI)
