ATC to hold daily hearings on cases against Imran Khan and others

Daily hearings will begin July 8

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – The Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has announced that it will hold daily hearings against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and others in cases registered with police stations in Sangjani and I-9.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra has sought a written response from the Superintendent of Adiala Prison regarding Imran Khan's appearance via video link.

Ali Nawaz Awan, Waseem Qayyum, Amir Kayani and other accused joined the legal proceedings. KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur and Amir Mughal submitted requests for exemption from personal appearance.

The judge stated categorically that any request for exemption from appearance would not be granted. He noted that this is not a valid reason to remain absent from court proceedings.

The judge further noted that non-bailable arrest warrants were issued against all the accused who had not joined the court proceedings. The PTI lawyers requested to be allowed to produce all the accused before the court in the next hearing.

The ATC judge said the court would declare the absconders absconding if they did not join the proceedings by July 8, which is the next date fixed for hearing of the two cases.

“I must conclude these deals, which will benefit you. The cases will be conducted in accordance with the law,” the judge said.
