President Joko Widodo offers special incentives for ASN settling in Indonesian capital – VISI.NEWS
VISI.NEWS | JAKARTA –President Joko Widodo proposed that state civil servants (ASN) who first move to the Indonesian capital (IKN) receive special incentives. This proposal was conveyed by the President while chairing a restricted meeting (ratas) discussing the transfer of ASN to IKN on Monday (1/7/2024).
The proposed incentives come in the form of additional salaries and accelerated promotions. Minister for State Machinery Strengthening and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas said his party had been asked by the president to formulate in detail the incentives for the transfer of ASN to IKN. “I cannot announce it yet because the figures will be reviewed with the Minister of Finance,” Anas said after the meeting.
Anas added that the President gave an overview of the incentives given to doctors placed in underdeveloped, border and outermost (3T) areas, and suggested that similar incentives be given to ASN as well. This incentive includes additional budget and accelerated promotion.
Even though the Head of State has set an example, the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform will always consider the good and bad first, including the high costs in the IKN field to measure the amount of ASN incentives in the future. The cost of accelerating promotion will also be calculated technically. “We have calculated the high costs, including the costs of accelerating promotion for those who have the qualifications,” Anas said.
Regarding the ministries and institutions that will be transferred to the IKN first, Anas said that there are 38 ministries and institutions. The transfers are prioritized for the ASN Level I related to strategic works. Anas emphasized that the transfer from the ASN to the IKN will begin after August 2024.
“Later, we will coordinate with the Minister of PUPR, water will start arriving on the 15th (July). “Then the airport will operate immediately, including toll roads, etc., so it is related to infrastructure,” Anas said. The President also stressed the importance of the carrying capacity of economic infrastructure, markets and schools. In the short term, in each tower there will be a school that can accommodate ASN families. The President also instructed the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Education to prepare the schools.
With this proposal, it is hoped that the transfer of ASN to IKN can proceed smoothly and support the accelerated development of the Indonesian capital.
