Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi: A conspiracy hatched to level false accusations against Hindus, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who yesterday accused MP Rahul Gandhi of lying and making harsh remarks against Hindus – and received a scathing response – today reiterated the allegation in his reply to the motion of thanks to the President's speech.

“Today there is a conspiracy to falsely accuse Hindus, a serious conspiracy is taking place,” PM Modi said.

“These are people who tried to coin the term ‘Hindu terrorism’. Their associates compared Hinduism to diseases like dengue and malaria. This country will never forgive them. In a well-thought-out conspiracy, their entire ecosystem has made it fashionable to degrade, insult and mock Hindu traditions,” he added.

Then, targeting Mr Gandhi, he added: “It is your culture, it is your character, it is your way of thinking, it is your hatred. It is the actions against Hindus in this country. This country will not forget it for centuries,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The prime minister's speech was accompanied by protests from the opposition and banging of fists on tables. Only the slogans about “Manipur” and justice were replaced by a Bollywood slogan that warns children against lying: “Jhooth bole kaua kaate (lie and you will be pecked by a crow)”.

In his maiden speech in Parliament as Leader of the Opposition yesterday, Rahul Gandhi came armed with pictures of various gods, including Lord Shiva and prophets of other religions, and used them to launch a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi, the BJP and its ideological mentor, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, accusing them of spreading fear.

One of his comments brought the prime minister to his feet. “Calling the entire Hindu society violent is a serious issue,” Mr Modi said, a comment the Congress called another example of the BJP’s distortion of facts.

At the time, Prime Minister Modi had received a scathing reply from Mr Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, a remark of his that was later erased from official records. Mr Gandhi brushed off the censure, saying he had said what he wanted to say and would not worry about whether his remarks were erased or not.

“What happened yesterday should be taken seriously,” Prime Minister Modi said today. “The way you (Hindus) have been disrespected should not be ignored because it is a childish act. They have malicious intentions. Their lies question the intellect of people,” he added.

The Prime Minister said that the insults to gods and goddesses by the opposition are harming 1.4 billion people in this country.

“We have been taught since childhood that every form is a manifestation of God. No form of God exists for personal gain. Insulting our Gods and Goddesses hurts 1.4 billion people in this country. The country cannot forgive mockery of forms of God for personal political gain. Looking at the scenes of yesterday’s assembly, Hindu society will now have to ask itself whether this is a preparation for an experiment,” he added.
