PM Modi responds to President's motion of thanks in Rajya Sabha
Launching a scathing attack on the opposition for its attempt to “blacken” the NDA's victory in the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that a government was retaining power for a third consecutive term after 60 years.
During the debate on the motion of thanks to the President in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi said, “The government has completed 10 years of its term, it has 20 more to go. Efforts are being made to obscure the decision of the people of the country.”
The Prime Minister, like in his speech in the Lok Sabha, was at his best in his speech in the Rajya Sabha and accused the opposition of not accepting the mandate of the Lok Sabha.
In his over two-hour speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of hatching a “conspiracy to falsely claim” that Hindus were violent, amid opposition chants of “Justice for Manipur” and “Bharat Jodo”.
Prime Minister Modi also accused the Congress and its “entire ecosystem” of trying to “disrespect, abuse and insult Hinduism”.
“It is a serious matter that there is a conspiracy to falsely accuse Hindus. It has been said that Hindus are violent. Is this your values? Is this your character? Is this your hatred towards Hindus of the country?” he said.
The prime minister's remarks were seen as a response to Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha, in which he referred to Hinduism while attacking the BJP.
The Prime Minister also said the Congress had now become a “parasite party”, feeding on the votes of its allies to boost its score in the Lok Sabha.
“The mandate of the Congress is to remain in opposition and keep shouting whenever it loses its logic,” he said.
Pointing his guns at Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Modi used the word “balak buddhi” (immature mind) to refer to the leader of the opposition several times in his speech.
“We saw this childish activity in the House yesterday. This is another drama to win sympathy, but we know he is out on bail in a multi-trillion-crore corruption case. He was convicted of calling OBCs thieves, he had to apologise in the Supreme Court for his irresponsible statements,” PM Modi said.
“Balak buddhi does not know how to speak or behave. When Balak buddhi loses control, he hugs someone by force or winks at them. The country tells him: tumse na ho payega (you will not succeed),” he added.
