Wesley Hunt reflects on Trump's threat to Taliban leaders: My favorite President Trump story |

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) argued that former President Donald Trump was capable of protecting the United States from its enemies, recounting his favorite story of Trump negotiating with Taliban leaders.

Hunt explained that Trump wanted a conditional withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan while he and then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo were negotiating with Taliban leaders. During those negotiations, Trump told Taliban leaders that he would kill them if you touched a single hair on an American, which surprised the translator who was with them.

And Trump said, “Tell him. Just tell him what I said!” Hunt said on The Sage Steele Show. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a satellite photo of the Taliban leader’s home, handed it to him, stood up and walked out of the room.

Hunt then pointed out that no Americans died in Afghanistan during the 18 months of Trump's presidency, calling that the definition of strength. He argued that the country is under the irresponsible leadership of President Joe Biden.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), who also participated in the interview, explained that seven U.S. embassies have been lost under Biden, something he said has never happened in U.S. history. He argued that this is because America's adversaries are aware of the country's weak leadership and are taking advantage of it.

Hunt and Donalds have both endorsed Trump in his 2024 White House bid. During last week's presidential debate, an ad funded by Hunt's Hellfire PAC aired in several states, highlighting Biden's history of discriminatory policies and racially insensitive remarks.

Donalds, meanwhile, threw his support behind Trump in April 2023, shortly after the Republican primary race gained momentum following the 2022 midterm elections. He is also rumored to be on Trump's short list for vice presidential candidates.
