Putin tells Xi Russia-China relations at 'best' DW 07/03/2024

Russian President Vladimir Putin has hailed relations with China, saying they are “at their best time in history” during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The two leaders met on Wednesday in the Kazakh capital Astana, where they were attending the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Eurasian security and defense club is seen by Moscow and Beijing as a tool to counter the influence of the United States and its allies in international affairs.

Along with Russia and China, four Central Asian states, India, Iran and Pakistan, are members of the SCO.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was also expected.

Russia and China have deepened their political, military and economic ties since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

What did the two leaders say?

In his opening speech at a meeting with Xi, Putin praised the SCO, saying it “strengthens its role as one of the key pillars of a just multipolar world order.”

“Russian-Chinese relations, our comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation are experiencing their best period in history,” Putin said.

For his part, Xi Jinping called Putin an “old friend” and said that Sino-Russian relations were at a “high level.”

“In the face of the turbulent international situation and external environment, the two sides should continue to uphold the original aspiration of friendship for generations to come,” Xi said.

Putin, Erdogan discuss ending war in Ukraine

Putin also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the SCO in Astana.

The Turkish president said that Ankara could help lay the foundations for ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. He added that a fair peace that would suit both sides was possible.

Putin and Erdogan also discussed the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, as well as ways to end the conflict in Syria, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
